I Smell of Determination and Chai Tea! @ 04:42 pm

Current Mood: good good

Determination because I’m enthused with my kettlebell routine and feeling unstoppable and chai tea because that’s what the soap we buy from the local merchants at the farmer’s market smells like. :)

Knowing that I’ll be out late tonight for mom’s birthday celebration one of three, I woke up at 6:50a this morning which is VERY early and uncommon for me and did my kettlebell routine then showered and rushed to work for a 9am conference call.

I’m really determined to do kettlebell exercises every day. I’m already addicted to the adrenaline and endorphins as well as the newfound energy and feeling of accomplishment I get from working out with them. I’ll start adding new exercises as time goes on as well as increasing the intensity and number of reps. Right now I just do the basic hip thrust, jerk and cleans, jerks, military press then some curls, upright rows and bent over rows. Being familiar with kettlebells enough to feel comfortable doing so, I added in another kettlebell so I do my jerk and cleans, jerks, military presses upright and bent over rows with two. That’s a lot of fun because you have to balance and absorb the weight of each individual kettlebell and even though you’re doing less squats and lifts than if you do one side at a time, the intensity is greater with two.

I’m not brave enough to try doing jerk and cleans or military presses by just holding on to the handle and balancing the weight of the kettlebell above your fist (instead of flipping it over to rest on your wrist) two at a time, but I may try it to change things up and do one side at a time. Eventually I’m going to incorporate jump roping after kettlebell lifting, but I’ll have to ease into that after being sedentary for so long.

Tonight is dinner with some family friends who are throwing a birthday dinner for my mom. Tomorrow I’m taking mom to see Macheté (the woman loves action flicks) and Sunday we are going out to Olive Garden on her actual birthday. I have to say that my mom is kick-ass enough to deserve a multi-day celebration. *grin*

No other plans for the weekend, we’re supposed to have a break from the 90 degree weather over the weekend and into next week, so I plan on being outside frequently to enjoy it!

Hope you all have a great Labor Day weekend, and that not too much of it is spent doing any actual “labor” (lest they be labors of love).

Woohoo kettlebells! I'm fond of 'em too. Have you come across Pavel's hilarious kettlebell books?

I think I've only glanced at them, haven't really looked at them enough to find any hilarity, sadly.

I have a video that I haven't watched in a while. Now you've made me want to watch it and see if there's anything amusing in it. *grin*
